- Description
- Located on the right bank of the River Seine, at its confluence with one of the two branches of the River Epte. Settlement was ancient; artifacts discovered here include a neolithic monument and Gallo-Roman graves. Grapes have been cultivated here since Merovingian times. It is famed as the home of the French Impressionist painter, Claude Monet, who painted many sites in and around his home here.
